Audiotech makers of guitar effects pedals and handy switching devices for musicians, have announced the official release of their ABC Selector channel combine model. The Audiotech ABC Selector CCM allows guitar players to switch between or combine up to three amps or guitars in any combination. "Our ABC selector is very versatile in that it allows you to run both guitars or amps in either direction, so you're not locked into using it in only one direction, like a lot of amp switchers on the market" says company president Eric Roberts.

"You can also switch between two amps and a tuner on the third channel for example" he adds. The Audiotech ABC Selector CCM units come with four 1/4" jacks for "A", "B" and "C" channels and a common "In/Out" jack. Any standard 9V battery or AC adapter can power the ABC Selector CCM.

he Algal Bloom is a thick, nasty, and searing new fuzz pedal by FH(fx). Designed to create super thick, alive, and searing fuzz tones! The circuit design then received valuable input offered by Mellowtone (a builder for FuzzHugger.com and a contributor to the FH(fx) Hugger). The result is a brutal and unique new fuzz! It draws from some unconventional fuzz-making components and controls, including a huge gain circuit for majorly overdriven fuzz tones!

The tri-stage control setup offers both flexibility and more subtle adjustments in tone and response. From backed-off drives, to thick and bassy fuzz, to a bright and searing fuzz tone that still remains amazingly full. The most influential control is the Gain (Bloom) control, which expands the fuzz, increasing the gain and the searing quality of the tone, all the way up to an over-annunciated throaty roar!

The pedal can be purchased at FuzzHugger.com (also a dealer for Mellowtone, Pro Tone, Devi Ever, and Smallsound/Bigsound) starting in January 2009!

Features:

Silicon diode and transistor based fuzz!
Trim (Choke), Gain (Bloom), and Level controls.
Professionally printed circuit board.
Bright white LED.
True-bypass switching.
9v adapter power.
Rugged aluminum enclosure.
Five-year warranty!

Price: $115.00 Release Date: January 1, 2009

To create the new T-Rex phase-shifter, we teamed up with one of our time's masters: Alter Bridge and former Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti. A devoted T-Rex user, Mark was looking for the perfect phaser to add to his onstage arsenal, and we've come up with a pedal he's proud to endorse. Tremonti sets a new standard for gorgeous phased sound.

Tremonti Phaser delivers everything you expect in a phaser and then some. The Stage switch lets you choose between a raw, vintage-sounding effect and a richer, more modern swirl. And the ingenious Bite knob adds a sexy overdrive edge to any setting. Fast or slow, deep or shallow, vintage or modern, Tremonti Phaser delivers extraordinary-sounding phased modulation that will take your playing to another world.

DigiTech® has announced its newest addition the popular RP product line, the RP1000 Integrated Effects Switching System. More than a multi-effects processor, the RP1000 features a switchable, external stompbox loop as well as an external amp loop that enables the RP1000 to easily connect and control external gear. "Unlike most multi-effects products, the RP1000 works with the guitarist's favorite gear so they do not have to compromise their personal tone. "We realize that guitarists want to use different brands and types of gear to personalize their tone so the RP1000 will do just that." says Jason Lamb, Marketing Manager for DigiTech. The RP1000 also features an Amp/Cabinet bypass button that removes the RP1000's internal amplifiers and cabinet effects leaving only the RP1000's internal stompboxes and effects or 200 individual pedalboards.

The RP1000 features over 160 internal stompboxes, effects, amps and cabinets including the famous DigiTech® Whammy™. The RP1000 is also built for the stage with heavy-duty cast metal chassis, and 14 metal plunger switches.

To top off the RP1000, a 20-second phrase looper allows the user to easily record, and overdub tracks for one-man band performances, writing and practicing. Control of the full-time phrase looper can be expanded with DigiTech's optional FS3X optional foot controller.

The DigiTech RP1000 Integrated Effects Switching System has an MSRP starting at $699.95.

Re-imagine your effects seven different ways with the new TOGGLE pedal by Molten Voltage. TOGGLE features Dynamic and Programmable Channel Switching, allowing you to switch between two different analog effect loops using either a tap tempo control or the intensity of your playing. At the core, TOGGLE is a true analog, true bypass, bombproof A/B channel switching pedal, and of course that mode is available. But that is where the similarities between TOGGLE and every other channel switching pedal end...

Tap Modes: In TapSwing mode, TOGGLE alternates between Channels A and B at the same speed you tap the button. TapSwing! adds a whole new dimension to tap tempo control by allowing you to independently set the "on" time for each channel and make it swing! This is done by tapping the Tap/Channel button three times. Two taps results in a steady pulse.

TOGGLE features three additional Tap modes. If you want to double your tempo, switch to TapTwo and press once. If you want triplets, switch to TapTriplet and press once. If you want to quadruple your tempo, you guessed it, switch to TapFour and press once.

TapTwo, TapTriplet, and TapFour are also available as primary effects in the same manner as TapSwing!, with the resulting tempo 2, 3, or 4 times as fast as you tap.

Strum Mode: With StrumTrigger, TOGGLE allows you to switch effect loops based on the intensity of your playing. While you are strumming hard, the channel is toggled, while you are hardly strumming it's not.

When you enter StrumTrigger mode, Channel A is primary and will be heard while you play softly. TOGGLE will switch to Channel B while you play loudly. Pressing the Tap/Channel button swaps the primary and secondary channels.

In StrumLatch mode, TOGGLE switches channels with each distinct hard strum. During soft strumming or consistent loud playing, the channel stays latched. When you play softly then play loudly again, TOGGLE switches channels and latches onto the new channel. Pressing the Tap/Channel button switches channels manually.

Playing StrumLatch is totally intuitive. StrumLatch lets you funk to the music in a way that no pedal ever has

For nearly twenty years Fender® and modern blues sensation Kenny Wayne Shepherd have shared a stage and they are now officially announcing the September 2008 release of his new signature model, the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster® guitar.

A sleekly elegant addition to Fender's stable of artist Strat® models, the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster is based on Shepherd's own '61 instrument (which will soon be on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum) and welds vintage style to modern features. Most distinctively, Shepherd's new signature model boasts a blueswailing voice of its own thanks to its three custom-voiced Kenny Wayne Shepherd pickups.

Other features include an alder-body, maple neck with 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard and 21 jumbo frets, vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge with Graph Tech® saddles and Fender vintage-style tuning machines. The guitar comes in three polyester finishes — a Black model with a three-ply black-white-black pickguard and racing stripe body graphic, and Three-color Sunburst and Arctic White models that each have a three-ply mint green pickguard (with cross graphic on the Arctic White model).

"It's an honor to be a part of the Signature Series guitar line. My goal throughout the design process was to combine top notch quality with unique appearances and road proven components at an affordable price. These guitars will help a new generation of guitarists develop their own signature sound the way Fender has helped me to develop mine.

The Louisiana-born Shepherd began recording his first album at age 16 and became a blues/rock sensation. He has sold millions of albums worldwide, including the platinum selling Ledbetter Heights (1995), the Grammy®-nominated and platinum selling Trouble Is ... (1998), Grammy® nominated Live On (1999), The Place You're In (2004) and two time Grammy® nominated 10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads (2007). Shepherd has four No. 1 blues albums to his credit, including Billboard Magazine's # 1 Blues Album of 2007, a string of No. 1 mainstream rock singles, two Billboard Music Awards (1998's Rock Song of the Year and Blues Album of the Year), two Orville H. Gibson Awards, the Blues Foundation's Keeping The Blues Alive Award, and a Blues Music Award.

"In addition to his unique voice, unbelievable abilities and general fingerboard prowess, Kenny is one of the modern-day ambassadors for a true American art form — the blues," said Justin Norvell, Fender's marketing director for electric guitars. "His Grammy®-nominated 10 Days Out showcased a mutual respect that crosses generations. He is the real deal, and he has the entire package."

Ernie Ball is proud to announce the arrival of new Titanium Reinforced coated Electric Strings. Introduced at the 2008 Summer NAMM show in Nashville, these strings will be available in all your favorite Ernie Ball Slinky gauges.

Ernie Ball Titanium Reinforced Coated Electric Strings combine the latest technological advances in string manufacturing. All wound strings are treated with a micro-thin layer of an exclusive enamel that prevents decay and corrosion up to 5 times more than uncoated sets! In addition to treating the wound strings, Ernie Ball has taken it a step further by reinforcing the plain strings with a patented winding of titanium wire.

Titanium's inherent strength prevents string breakage, string slippage, and is proven to keep your strings in tune better than conventional plain strings. Ernie Ball Coated Slinkys maintain the feel and sound of uncoated sets, combining the added protection with the vibrant tone Ernie Ball customers have relied on for over 5 decades. Ernie Ball Titanium Reinforced Strings are a perfect match for those who experience prevalent string breakage.

UK based pickup manufacturer Swineshead Pickups has introduced a new seven string single coil pickup called the SH97. Like the six string SH90 introduced earlier this year, the SH97 is a single coil pickup in a humbucker housing that will fit any seven string guitar that would normally use humbuckers. This opens up a range of single coil tones without the need to rout or modify the guitar in any way.

Like Swineshead's other seven string pickups the SH97 is available in three different sizes allowing them to used as direct replacements for all major seven string guitars currently available.

The SH97 is available in a wide range of colours and woods. Plastic SH97s are £59.95 each whilst the wooden SH90s are £69.95 each. Each pickup is handmade in the English village of Swineshead and comes with all the necessary screws needed to mount it in your guitar.

DC Resistances:

Bridge - 8.7k
Neck - 7.5k

VOX has expanded its line of Valvetronix™ tube-powered modeling amplifiers with the introduction of the new VT Series 15-Watt VT15, 30-Watt VT30, 50-Watt VT50 and 100-Watt VT100 combos. As with all Valvetronix models, these amps feature VOX's patented Valve Reactor™ technology*. This proprietary design uses a unique 12AX7 tube circuit to create a 100% analog power-amp circuit that delivers true tube amp sound and feel, unattainable with digital technology.

Based on VOX's critically acclaimed AD Series, these new models deliver even more advanced modeling and effects, all at affordable price points. New Features include:

22 ultra-authentic amp models that provide maximum tonal flexibility by delivering everything from the latest high-gain amps to legendary vintage and boutique amplifiers.
12 high-quality effects — including reverb with its own independent level control
ranging from familiar standards such as chorus and delay to new effects such as a pitch shifter/harmonizer.
66 preset programs — 22 famous song presets which simulate the signature tones of the world's most famous guitarists.
8 footswitchable user programs for creating and saving custom amp and effect combinations.
Built-in speaker-emulated headphone/line-out jack for playing in private or connecting to a mixer or recorder without sacrificing sound quality.
Optional VFS5 footswitch, providing hands-free program switching and allowing users to turn effects on/off, or to set delay time and modulation speed.

The amps' bold looks provide a modern twist on traditional VOX design, combining the striking metal grills of the previous Valvetronix AD Series with new cream chicken head/pointer knobs that pay homage to VOX's rich heritage. Each model features VOX custom-designed speakers as well as user selectable output power that allows the Valve Reactor to be saturated at even low volumes to deliver authentic tube power amp sound, response and feel. In addition, external speaker output is provided on VT50 and VT100, and an effects loop on VT100.

The VOX VT15 and VT30 will be available in October 2008 with respective MSRPs of $280.00 and $375.00, and the VT Footswitch will have an MSRP of $84.00. The VT50 and VT100 will be available in December with pricing TBA.

Behringer adds sixteen new effects pedals to its formidable collection of high-performance, low-cost guitar, bass and keyboard effects processors. 24-bit RSM, or Real Sound Modeling pedals utilize advanced DSP algorithms developed by Behringer's team of acoustic, hardware and software engineers.

Based in Willich, Germany, and led by Senior Product Manager Jan Duwe, Behringer engineers have analyzed virtually every parameter of musical instrument sound production; from room acoustics and instrument construction materials, to electronic modification and amplification methods. The result is a new line of pedals that model everything from room reverberation to tape flanging and echo, to acoustic guitar simulation and more.

"Developing RSM pedals has been a multi-year program for us that has resulted in a platform on which we can develop in many directions", states Duwe. "Our 24-bit hardware, firmware and software system will allow us to model many acoustic spaces, instruments and electronic modifications; at very little cost to the customer. One could easily be misled by the compact pedal form factor, but under the hood of our RSM processors you will find a lot of substantial FX for DJ's, keyboardists and guitar amp effects loops alike."

Jesse Bond, guitarist for Kanye West adds, "The Reverb Machine sounds amazing and has a lot of controls to dial in a perfect reverb sound. I played it through a couple of amps that are known for their classic sounding reverb and the RV600 did more than hold its own. It automatically earned a place on my pedalboard the first time I heard it."

Aguilar Amplification announces that shipment has now begun for their highly anticipated preamp/D.I., the Tone Hammer. This unit, which made its debut at the winter NAMM show in January 2008, was designed to be more than just a "preamp in a pedal". Having more functionality than a standard D.I. or overdrive unit, Aguilar's Tone Hammer is an essential tool for every bassist's arsenal.

Dave Boonshoft, Aguilar CEO, states, "We are very proud of the Tone Hammer. The flexibility that it gives to working bassists is unparalleled." Bassist Dan Lutz (Robben Ford) echoes Boonshoft's sentiments; "It's a killer D.I., a versatile preamp, and a great overdrive. It's a tool that will prove invaluable for the most demanding players."

Starting with the warm, organic sound that Aguilar is known for, the Tone Hammer adds fully sweepable midrange frequencies, in addition to treble and bass controls to it's preamp section, for maximum tonal sculpting.

To give this tone shaping unit the ultimate flexibility we are introducing our proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS). AGS allows the player to kick in an additional gain structure and EQ curve with the "stomp" of a button. You can now easily go from modern slap sounds to vintage warmth or overdriven tones. 18-volt operation gives the Tone Hammer plenty of headroom to reproduce the most dynamic playing styles. With the Tone Hammer's pristine D.I. you are set to hit the studio or the stage.

3 Band EQ with fully sweepable midrange Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS)
D.I. with selectable pre/post operation; balanced XLR
18-Volt operation via batteries, phantom power or optional power supply

Audiotech, makers of guitar effects pedals and handy switching devices for musicians, have announced they'll release three limited edition prototype ABC Selector LCM units in late fall of 2008. Three lucky guitar players will have a chance to own the much anticipated amp selector/controller units before there official release. Much like their popular CCM model, The LCM will allow guitar players to select or combine up to three amplifiers in any combination. It will also allow you to balance out each amplifier with individual trim/level controls on channels A, B or C.

"We've had such a huge interest in our ABC Selector LCM model from guitar players," says company president Eric Roberts. "So we thought we'd do a small limited run of three prototype units to give guitar players a little something to tide them over until the official release of the LCM" he adds.

The Audiotech ABC Selector LCM prototype units will come with four 1/4" jacks for "A", "B" and "C" channels and a common "IN/OUT". Any standard 9V AC adapter can power the ABC Selector LCM.

The Minotaur is a versatile Analog distortion and overdrive pedal that can produce a mild crunch to a high gain distortion while preserving the dynamics of your playing. The multi-gain stage design has a high impedance input that preserves the harmonics of your natural guitar tone and brings clarity to your sound that is lost in many high gain pedals.

The controls include pre-boost, gain and master volume knobs, and a 3-way toggle switch that enables Silicon, Germanium, or Bypass clipping modes. Using a combination of pre-boost/gain/volume knob settings along with the three toggle switch positions gives you a wide range of usable tones. The Bypass clipping mode along with the Pre-boost gain stage overdriving the 2nd gain stage provides major distortion and volume without diode clipping. Additional Soft and Hard Clipping can be selected by the 3-way toggle switch. Switching between Hard and Soft clipping modes maintains a near constant volume so the master volume can be left alone when changing modes.

By incorporating premium components such as high tolerance film capacitors and professional engineering design practices, the Minotaur achieves high gain without excessive noise and a feature set that is unique among distortion pedals. The pedal requires a standard 9V DC, 2.1mm Negative tip power adapter (not included).

Pedal Features:

100% Analog Circuitry.
Handmade in the USA.
Multi Gain Stage design with independent control knobs for Boost and Gain.
Master Volume control knob for monster gain at low volume.
3-Way Clipping Mode selection (Silicon, Germanium, Bypass)
Powdercoated Aluminum enclosure (3.6"x1.5") and rugged construction.
Highest quality components throughout including Switchcraft Jacks, film capacitors, long-life pots.
True Bypass Operation (will not "suck" tone when bypassed).
Bright LED ON/OFF Indicator.
Durable textured LEXAN graphics will not fade, scratch, or peel.
Available in two colors (Gray and Black).

After a 30 year hiatus, Carvin is excited to announce the return of the legendary Bigsby vibrato to our lineup of Custom Shop options. The Custom Shop has received many requests to bring back the venerable Bigsby, and Carvin is very pleased to accommodate these requests.

Carvin first introduced the Bigsby as an option in 1963, and it was a fixture on our guitars until 1977. The reintroduction of the Bigsby on Carvin Custom Shop guitars is a nod to our rich history, and will open up an entirely new style of playing for Carvin customers.

The Bigsby model B70 (shown on the SH550 below) with its trapezoid tailpiece, will be available on our semi-hollow carved top models. The model B50 (shown on the SH65 below) will be available on many Carvin semi-hollow and solidbody guitars, including the new SH60, SH250, DC model guitars and the SC90 & TL60. A Bigsby will not be offered on the CT/CS models, Holdsworth, Bolt, C66, Ultra V/V220 or 7-string models. Both tailpieces will also be offered on our synth guitars, the SH575, SH275, and SH65. The new licensed B50 and B70 are improved over the original Bigsbys in that they are die-cast (versus the sand-casting used on the original units), and they feature nylon washers on the roller mechanism. These improvements make for a more uniform forward roller which provides a smoother vibrato and more consistency with better aesthetics. Both are set-up specifically to work with Carvin's tune-o-matic M-bridge. The Custom Shop has performed extensive testing on these vibratos on our electric, acoustic/electric and MIDI synth access guitars, and we are quite pleased with the performance, construction, sound and playability of these units.

Both models will be available in polished aluminum (silver) to match chrome hardware or gold-plated to match gold hardware. If you order black hardware, the Bigsby will be aluminum (this is because Bigsby does not make a black B50 or B70 model). Pricing and other information will be posted on Carvin.com soon, when they will also be added to our on-line Guitar Wizard. Note that the SH250/275 and the SH60/65 will only fit in the HC12 vintage tweed case when equipped with a Bigsby.

Bigsby has a history that is as long and colorful as Carvin's. Paul Bigsby, a skilled guitar maker in his own right, began making instruments in the 1940's, not far from where Lowell Kiesel was making the first Carvin instruments under the Kiesel badge. The Bigsby vibrato debuted in the early 60's, and was a fixture on many instruments of the day. In the late 60's, Bigsby Accessories was sold to Ted McCarty, retired president of Gibson Guitars, as Paul Bigsby's health began to decline. In 1999, Bigsby was sold to Gretsch Guitars. Carvin is very proud to continue the tradition that Paul Bigsby helped create - building the best musical instruments possible.

The OpenStompTM Coyote-1 is an open source audio effects processor built for guitar players. With the Coyote-1 users can develop custom audio effects in software (like distortion, echo, chorus etc.), mix multiple effects to build "patches", and exchange those effects and patches with the OpenStompTM community.

A companion Windows application (OpenStompTM Workbench) allows Users to combine effects into patches graphically, and to move patches and effects between the Coyote-1 device and their PC's disk.

The Coyote-1 O/S is open source so users can tweak it to behave any way they like, and the hardware is fully documented so that developers can take control of the whole pedal, dedicating all available system resources toward the implementation of

One of the world's most famous British amplifier brands, Orange Amps, has just announced a major theft of a container load of amplifiers from its Borehamwood premises. Used by some of the biggest stars such as Madonna, Led Zeppelin Prince and Kaiser Chiefs, the robbers targeted this prestigious brand to carry out a daring raid on Saturday 16th August.

The one hundred forty one Orange Tiny Terror Combo guitar amps, which have a combined value of over 60,000, were part of the first shipment of the much anticipated amps into the UK. The product was launched at the Frankfurt music exhibition earlier this year, on the back of the award winning acclaimed Tiny Terror amp which has sold over 30,000 units and proven to be one of the most in-demand amps in the world.

The combination amp and speaker has a value of 439 each and was stolen from a temperature controlled, sealed forty foot container. The robbers couldn't break the locks so they attempted to use an acetylene welder and then angle grinders to cut through the quarter inch locking steel plates.

As this was part of the first delivery into the UK, only 121 units had been shipped into music shops, so this is still a highly sought after amp with very limited availability. Orange recently won the Queens Award for Enterprise - International Trade.

The Police have launched a major investigation and informed all relevant port and home authorities. Orange Amplifiers are putting up a reward of 5000 for information that will lead to a successful conviction and recovery of these amplifiers. If you have any information please contact the local Police force on 0845-3300222, quoting Crime Number J1/08/3588. The company has the serial numbers of all the products stolen which is available on it's website.

Known for its artistic instrument designs, Luna Guitars is pleased to introduce the Luna Trinity. This is the most talked-about acoustic guitar of the year. It had its television debut on last season's American Idol, when it was played on the show by finalist, Jason Castro.

The Trinity balances Luna's best creative and technical efforts. Crafted at the historic Terada, Japan factory that has manufactured guitars for Alvarez, Gibson, Gretsch, and Martin, the Luna Trinity combines uncompromising structural integrity and superb playability with tone and projection worthy of any professional artist or discriminating player.

The Trinity features a solid sitka spruce top with an extraordinary knot work design at the sound hole crafted of mother-of-pearl with ebony borders. An ebony bridge, classic herringbone binding, rosewood sides and solid rosewood back put the finishing touches on this elegant instrument.

Luna's crescent moon mother-of-pearl logo shines brightly from an ebony headstock with Gotoh 18:1 tuners. The company's signature mother-of-pearl moon phase fret markers make their way down an ebony fret board with stainless steel frets. Luna's attention to detail is further evidenced by a bone nut and saddle.

Complementing the Trinity's design is the inclusion of a state-of-the-art B-Band Preamp tuner that maintains the intimate and natural acoustic tonal quality of the fine instrument. The Preamp includes a 3-band equalizer, phase select, low cut filter with frequency select, as well as Hi and Lo Z outputs.

AlumiSonic Aluminum Guitars will publicly premier the Ultra-1100 SuperChrome on July 12-13, 2008 at the Great American Guitar Show in King of Prussia, PA. The Ultra-1100 aluminum top is cold forged and tempered to precisely replicate the varying curves and surface contours of a classic archtop instrument. Incredibly, the resonance produced by the shape of this archtop can create infinite sustain under slightly overdriven conditions. The Ultra-1100 also has a 4.5 degree pitched neck that follows the angle of the archtop contour. Ultra-1100 necks are set with AlumiSonic's new patented Set Neck Mounting System. This system secures the neck internally with no exterior neck plate or screws on the back of the guitar. All AlumiSonic Guitars have no exterior rivets or unusual screws, and are seamlessly hand crafted. AlumiSonic Guitars typically weigh from only 6.5 to 8.5 lbs.

The Ultra 1100 SuperChrome retails for $2720.00.

DigiTech, a leading manufacturer of guitar and bass processors, and a Harman International company (NYSE-HAR), is now shipping the new HardWire Guitar Pedals. The HardWire Guitar Pedals feature true bypass and constant high-voltage operation (15-volts) from a single 9-volt battery or power supply. True bypass allows a guitar's true tone to pass unaltered when in bypass mode. Constant high-voltage operation prevents undesired distortion when used with high-output pickups and allows effects pedals to work flawlessly in amplifier effects loops. The HardWire Guitar Pedals are crafted from premium, all-metal components to perform night after night, tour after tour.

Each HardWire pedal also features an assortment of tourworthy accessories like green gaffer tape common to pro pedalboards, Stomplock knobguards to maintain pedal settings, and a hook & loop pad to fasten the pedal to a pedalboard.

The HardWire lineup consists of the seven distinct pedals: the HT-2 Chromatic Tuner (a guitar tuner with tuning references including flat and double flat), the CM-2 Tube Overdrive featuring a Classic mode and a Modern, higher-gain overdrive mode, the SC-2 Valve Distortion with Crunch mode and a Saturated mode for modern hard rock tones, the TL-2 Metal Distortions with a percussive Tight mode and a Loose mode for detuned guitars, CR-7 Stereo Chorus featuring seven chorus types from classic Analog to modern Multi-Voice settings, the DL-8 Delay Looper with ten delay types from Tape to Digital and a 20-second Looper, and the RV-7 Stereo.

RJM Music Technology has just introduced the MasterMind, a new MIDI foot controller promoted as the ideal controller for touring guitarists — durable and powerful yet compact enough to be carried in a gig bag or inside a rack.

"This really fills a hole in the market," says Ron Menelli, President and Chief Engineer of RJM Music Technology. "Until now hasn't been a truly professional quality MIDI controller of this size."

"We're changing the minds of a lot of MIDI-phobes," says John Pegler, VP of Sales. "This system (the foot controller as well as the RG-16 or Amp Gizmo) is a complete solution and it is so incredibly easy to use."

"I was skeptical at first," says rig-builder Chris Kamp. "It's comfortable to use and the buttons are spaced far enough apart that I'm not hitting more than one at a time. The thing is built like a tank!"

RJM Music Technology is confident that the MasterMind will appeal to both amateurs and professionals. It requires virtually no setup or configuration for simple rigs, yet has many configuration options available if the user needs to control a large, complex rig.

Some other noteworthy features are phantom power support and the ability to connect multiple MasterMinds and have them synchronized together.

The MasterMind is now available from RJM Music dealers worldwide. US MSRP is $349.99.

Joe Satriani celebrated two 20th anniversaries this year — the 20th Anniversary of his groundbreaking "Surfing with the Alien" album and his 20th year with Ibanez Guitars. Since Satriani celebrated two anniversaries, Ibanez decided to offer two 20th anniversary models.

The Limited Edition JS20TH features a three-dimensional Silver Surfer graphic, which is reported to require a very time-consuming technique to effect. Also featured are DiMarzio PAF Pro (neck) and Fred (bridge) pickups, the original Edge locking trem, Joe Satriani strap and picks, and a hardshell case. Only 150 of these models will be available in the United States. The list price of the JS20TH is $7999.99.

Ibanez' second anniversary model, the JS20S, features a standard graphic of the Silver Surfer, IBZ Axis pickups, the Edge III trem, and lists for $1733.32.

The JS20TH prototype was originally seen in the hands of Joe Satriani at the Joe Satriani 20th Anniversary concert at the January Winter NAMM Show; however, details on the guitar had not been finalized and the guitar was not offered for sale at that time. The Summer NAMM Show is the official debut of both the JS20TH Limited Edition and the JS20S standard edition.

Note: Pictured JS20TH is a prototype. Final production model may vary slightly.
